Hemodialysis Study (HEMO)

The HEMO (Hemodialysis) Study was a multi-center randomized clinical trial supported by NIDDK. The Department served as the Data Coordinating Center. The aims of the study were to evaluate in a 2x2 factorial design the effect of dose of dialysis and dialyzer membrane flux on the mortality and morbidity in chronic hemodialysis patients.

The HEMO Study clinical trial ended patient follow-up on December 31, 2001. There were 1846 patients enrolled in this trial who were followed up to 6.5 years. The design and primary results of the trial are :
